UNIVERSITY,
Miss- There is a new option for University of Mississippi students from the Dallas/Fort
Worth area. Megabus, a transportation bus system has announced its route from
Memphis to Dallas.
The
cost of a one-way ticket is $29 and is an eight- hour trip. The bus does not
stop anytime along the way, and has amenities like free Wi-Fi high -speed Internet
and current safety features. There are some Megabus options that are double
decker buses.
There are many options that can get you from
Memphis to Dallas, but this option is both cost efficient and nicer than other
transportation options. There are many students that attend Ole Miss who are
from the Dallas/Fort Worth area looking for easier ways to get back home. Some
people have heard of this option have learned of it by word of mouth like
sophomore Nicole Villarreal.
“I
have already booked a ticket for winter break to get back to Dallas and some of
my friends are also traveling with me so we can save money on gas and flights
are too expensive and stressful to bother with,” said Villarreal, a Conroe,
Texas native.
There
is no doubt that many students are not aware of this Megabus option. Many
students have to drive to Jackson and take an airplane out from there.
Southwest Airlines sells tickets for as much as $228 for a one- way trip to
Houston. Another option is Amtrak trains $218 which has to go through
Chicago, taking about 2 days to get to Houston or Dallas.
Megabus
is a new way to get to the Dallas area in a way that is low cost and fast. Not
only students can take this bus, but Alumni and parents as well. For big games
such as the Texas A&M home game coming up the Megabus option would be worth
exploring.
“I for one
did not know that there was a Megabus route ... I’ll have to take a look at
that for future games,” said Brian Laine, president of the Houston Alumni Rebel
Club.
As more
students and parents learn and explore this new option it could become an easy
and fun way to get to games or go home. Now the only new route that needs to be
added is from Memphis, Tenn to South Carolina. To get more information about
the Magabus routes and get tickets go to megabus.com.
